A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER
There are moments in childhood that seem small while you’re living them. Watching other kids leave for summer camp. Hearing classmates talk about the memories they made over the summer. Discovering talents you never had the chance to discover because the opportunity simply wasn’t there. When you’re a child, you don’t always realize you’re missing something. You just assume that life wasn’t meant for you. I know that feeling. As I grew older and became a mother, I began to see those moments differently. I realized opportunity isn’t just about having fun for a week. It’s about exposure. Confidence. Belonging. It’s about giving a child permission to imagine a future bigger than the one they’ve seen. Sometimes all it takes is one experience for a child to believe, “Maybe I can do that too.” Build Beyond Foundation was born from that belief. Not because I wanted to create another nonprofit. But because I wanted to make sure fewer children grow up believing certain doors were never meant to open for them. I believe every child deserves the chance to discover who they are before the world tells them who they can be. Every scholarship we provide is more than a week at camp. It’s a child discovering a passion. A future barber cutting hair for the first time. A future comedian finding their voice. A future athlete stepping onto a field with confidence. A future engineer asking questions that change the world. Those moments matter. Because sometimes a single opportunity becomes the memory a child carries for the rest of their life.
